A High-Stakes London Corporate Event: Gatsby Glamour on the Silver Sturgeon

When our recurring client from Hong Kong, the same one we assisted in Barcelona, trusted us with their next major project, we knew it had to be spectacular. The venue was the famous Silver Sturgeon boat on the River Thames. Hosting a London corporate event for 150 VIP guests on a moving vessel is a logistical masterpiece that requires flawless execution.

The Challenge: Strict Timelines and a Moving Stage

First and foremost, the logistics of a river cruise are incredibly demanding. When a boat docks at a Thames pier, timings must be exact to the minute; otherwise, heavy fines are issued. Therefore, the stress level was high. We had to coordinate with the AV company for sound and lighting while ensuring all performers boarded at specific points.

Specifically, the artists boarded at one pier for their soundchecks and rehearsals. Then, the boat navigated to a different pier to pick up the 150 guests. If an artist was late, the boat would literally leave without them. Zero margin for error.

A Bespoke Town Crier and Royal Welcome

Fortunately, the execution at the pier was flawless. Guests were welcomed by a magnificent 20-piece London Military Band in traditional costumes. Moreover, they were joined by a classic British Town Crier. Dressed in full traditional attire and ringing his iconic bell, the Town Crier shouted a completely bespoke welcome message. This script was previously approved by the client, loudly announcing the company’s name and greeting the VIPs. Right before stepping onto the boat, two soldiers with swords provided a grand, ceremonial greeting.

Once inside, the Gatsby-themed cocktail hour began. Guests were served canapés by two stunning LED Living Tables dressed in 1920s attire. Meanwhile, a Harry Potter lookalike magician roamed the crowd, and two Mirror Men entertained and posed for photos. As the boat set sail, guests were amazed by a spectacular fireworks display.

An Awards Dinner Full of Surprises

As the evening progressed, the awards dinner commenced. A sweet harpist provided an elegant background melody. After the first course, four Gatsby Dancers took over, assisting the host, handing out awards, and serving champagne with choreographed flair.

However, the biggest surprise came from our three undercover Singing Opera Waiters. Disguised as boat staff, they suddenly burst into powerful opera performances between the tables, leaving the guests speechless. Finally, a Comedy String Quartet closed the dinner. They delivered an upbeat, interactive performance, dancing and joking with the audience.

In conclusion, as the Gatsby dancers waved goodbye to the departing guests, we knew we had delivered an unforgettable London corporate event. The client was thrilled with the seamless logistics and top-tier talent, solidifying their trust in us for future international endeavors.
